It is as your pics are labeled, an 802-8G.
33952 is the part number for 802-8G.
This driver was pulled from a set of 19's that I bought a while back. The 19's had this driver & a 902 in them & I replaced this driver with another 902 to make a matched pair.
I'd now like to try some different mid drivers in a pair of La Scalas & if I can make a matched pair with this one, I'll only have to buy 1 driver.
There are no Altec markings on this as you can see from the attached, maybe replaced at some stage?
I took the diaphragm out & it has the tangerine radial phase plug fitted.
Any ideas?

Not all vegetables make good leaders.
Many thanks for confirming.
Will post comments on my impressions when completed. I'm almost sure it will sound a lot better than the old K55 Klipsch driver.
Thanks,
John
Most definately !!! The 802-8G/33952 may have been the original driver that came with the 19's problem is the 902 came with them at the end of their production too.You can confirm if lucky by the date code on the bottom of cabs where the binding posts are.The vast majority of model 19's came with the 802-8g/33952's and 416-8B's

Checked the build dates & they are 08/22/78 & 06/05/78, so they are pretty close in build dates. Don't know exactly when they started putting 902's in them or maybe the original owner blew a driver & had it replaced.
Here's a better pic of the old girls....they're still my favourites.
You know I've spent a fortune on the LS & changed nearly every component in them, (so I suppose they aren't really La Scalas any more, strictly speaking) & these old girls still sound better to my ears just as the factory made them.
They were in fairly good condition when I got them apart from the mismatched HF drivers. Just refurbished the cabs with some furniture oil, built new grilles & bases & painted the 811's. Too easy!!
Can't seem to get the photo to appear in the post....says I'm over my limit of file size....will try later.
Yah, when you get to a certain limit you have to go back and delete old pictures/manage attachments to post new ones the way this site works the more you donate the more space you get for posting.
With those build dates I would say the 802 is the original driver and like you said the 902 was a replacement I would keep the original and try to get another 802-8G or get both and you could compare both and use what sounds best to you. That's what I would try,but I would definately keep the original driver with them.
I agree with you I like the 19's much better I never really liked the LaScala's or the Khorns.I think Klipsch's best sounding speaker is the Cornwall.I prefer the direct radiating woofers/bass reflex enclosures. :2thumbsup:
Or, a file has to be limited in size to be posted. Limits are shown under 'Manage Attachments'. I use IrfanView(freeware) to shrink the pic files.
Marshall.
Thanks guys
